Therapies

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) is based on the idea that our thoughts, behaviours, and feelings are all linked. More simply, what we think and do, impacts the way we feel. By identifying unhelpful patterns of thinking, emotional responses, and behaviours that may be contributing to the difficulties someone is experiencing, skills and strategies can be implemented to help someone engage in different ways of thinking and behaving to improve the way they feel.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of therapy that teaches people skills for dealing with painful thoughts and feelings by increasing psychological flexibility and helping people to behave in ways that are in line with their values so that they can lead a more meaningful life. This includes focusing on the present moment and embracing/accepting thoughts and feelings without judgement through a range of mindfulness-based strategies that are integral to ACT.
