What sort of problems do you treat?
I have a range of experience providing psychological assessment and treatment to children, families, and adults. Please see services for more information about the clients I see.
Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to see me, I welcome self-referrals. If you would like to contact me for an appointment or to discuss whether therapy might be appropriate for you feel free to do so by clicking here. I will respond as soon as possible.
What do your sessions cost?
Initial assessments are typically about one and a half hours and cost $285. Most clients require an initial assessment before proceeding with therapy appointments. Therapy appointments are 50 minutes long and cost $190.
How are payments made?
Payments will be sent by invoice following the appointment and are due within 48 hours. Bank transfer and payment by card are both available through the invoice.
Can I get any help to pay for the appointments?
There are a range of services that may be able to support you financially to attend appointments. Those under the age of 25 can access two free sessions through Gumboot Friday. To access this apply through https://www.gumbootfriday.org.nz/.
Some clients may meet criteria for partial funding for therapy via WINZ https://www.workandincome.govt.nz/products/a-z-benefits/disability allowance
Some insurance policies provide cover or subsidies for Clinical Psychology services. Please check with your insurance company prior to engagement with me if you require their funding.
What if I need to cancel or change an appointment?
It is not unusual to occasionally need to change appointment times. If you need to cancel or change your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice so that the appointment can be offered to another client.
Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged 50% of the session fee (i.e., $95.00). Non-attendance of a session without prior notice, except in the case of a serious emergency, will be charged at the full rate (i.e. $190.00).
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required is individualised th each persons own needs and the goals they have for therapy. Some people seek consultations only, others seek a few sessions, whereas others may require longer-term work. We can agree on an initial number of sessions at the beginning of therapy and regularly review this to make sure we are working together effectively to meet your goals.
Are my sessions confidential?
I am legally and ethically bound to keep our sessions confidential and not share with anyone else what is talked about. However, if there is reason to believe that someone maybe at risk to themselves or to/from others I may need to break confidentiality in keeping with the law. I will always endeavour to discuss this first.
